Full Moon in Capricorn: It’s Time to Claim Your Future

Tomorrow's Capricorn Full Moon supplies the container--and the ambition--to bring to fruition the abundant creativity of a sky brimful of water.

Tomorrow’s Capricorn Full Moon supplies the container–and the ambition–to bring to fruition the abundant creativity of a sky brimful of water.

Tomorrow morning’s full moon in the ambitious earth sign of Capricorn falls in a sky that’s turning more watery by the day.  With the Sun in Cancer, the energy of Capricorn’s polarity, are Mercury and Venus.  Jupiter is within a degree of joining them.  Saturn, Neptune, and Chiron are also in water signs, the Manifestor making transformation real and tangible and the Mystic and the Wounded Healer making stirring our souls and our connection with the sacred.

Although Luna is famously ill at ease in Capricorn, this full moon couldn’t be set in a better energetic pattern. The entire solar system is currently arrayed to bring out the best of Capricorn’s structured, dutiful response to life.

Of all the celestial bodies, none is more fluid than Luna, who changes signs every two and a half days.  Capricorn is baffled, even frightened, by the ceaselesss motion of the Moon’s right-brain response to life. Yet her waxing and waning serves a vital purpose in our lives. Throughout her monthly journey through each sign in the cosmos, she’s gathering information that would otherwise be unavailable to us.  Ninety-six percent of all we know–the information that lies beneath the surface of our conscious awareness– is in her domain.  And nowhere is she more at home than in Cancer–and less at home than in the sign that lies directly across the sky, Capricorn.

Capricorn, the Mountain Goat: Sure-Footed on the Mountainside, Adrift in the Sea

The Mountain Goat is famously ill at ease in the watery energy of Cancer.

In Capricorn, Luna’s has only a few strategies for dealing with the realm of emotions. Her favorite ploy is to ignore them by keeping busy. If that doesn’t work, she labels and judges–herself most of all.  Rarely does this moon sign feel relaxed or content on an inner level, and nothing is harder for them than discuss their vulnerabilities with others. Emotions—especially those like anger, resentent, and vulnerability–tend to show up as illness or depression, which is widespread among Capricorn Moons.

Yet this watery sky may be the perfect setting for this Capricorn full moon.  Water is the strongest of signs, capable of wearing down all the others—but it needs a container.  No energy provides this better than that of Capricorn. And both Cancer and Capricorn share a dynamic, change-oriented energetic mode and an unswerving commitment to the future.

Enhancing the creative potential of this full moon is the marvelously collaborative relationship that exists between the six planets in water signs.  The strong positive flow of the Sun’s grand trine to both Neptune and Saturn lies like a cosmic blessing over the lunation.  Its gift is the great promise of this time–the ability to draw our dreams of a new, more creative and nurturing way of ife into reality.

The Moon’’s sextile to both Neptune and Saturn gives us the momentum to create new ways to do this–ways that draw on our deepest emotional responses to life.. Part of the enormours creative potential of this full moon  has to do with the the resonance of two signs occupied by Sol and Luna with our earliest memories and our deepest responses to life.

Cancer is both way we were nurturer and the way we nurture ourselves, and others. Sensitive yet tenacious, moody yet nurturing, Cancer’s great gift is its emotional richness.  It’s no accident that this sign claims so many gifted writers. In describing the vibrance of the world,it stirs our hearts and our souls, speaking to the creative energy that lies within us as well.
